Besseges, an active fire protection and facilities management company based in Dukinfield, Manchester, UK, focuses on serving the retail, commercial, and education sectors. Recently, the company secured an investment from BGF, although the precise amount of the deal has not been disclosed. This financial backing will empower Besseges to not only sustain its organic growth but also explore strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as it aims to expand its operations beyond its established North West and Midlands regions, offering services on a nationwide scale.
Founded in 1976, Besseges has built a strong reputation in the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
The company reached a pivotal moment in 2022 when it was acquired by CEO David Prendergast and non-executive director Graham Norfolk. Under their leadership, Besseges has experienced remarkable growth, with the workforce surging from a mere five employees to a robust team of 60 within a relatively short timeframe. During this period of expansion, the firm has also broadened its service portfolio to include fire protection installation, as well as fire protection service and maintenance, alongside facilities maintenance that encompasses HVAC systems, commercial heating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
The recent investment initiative was spearheaded by Rhys Davenport, an investor from BGF’s North West team. As an additional move to strengthen the company's governance, Mike Brown is set to join the board as a non-executive chair (NXC). His appointment has been facilitated through BGF’s Talent Network, which stands as one of the largest assemblies of board-level executives across both the UK and Ireland. Brown's previous experience includes serving as the NXC for the BGF-backed Horbury, positioning him well to contribute to the strategic direction of Besseges as it embarks on this promising new chapter.
