Karta, a London-based Metaverse studio, has successfully raised a seed funding round of USD1.1m, according to reports. The round was led by GameTech Ventures and saw participation from prominent individuals such as Amy Thomson, Toikido, Charlie Greenwood, Robert Wigley, Ste Thompson, and Big Ideas Group. With this funding, Karta aims to further expand its operations and reach within the industry. The company, established in 2021 by Tony Barnes, a veteran of the music industry, and Erik Londré, former Head of Events at Fnatic, is focused on making the metaverse accessible to musicians, brands, and sports rights-holders.
Within just two years of its launch, Karta has already made significant strides in the industry.
The studio has successfully delivered various projects on platforms such as Roblox, Fortnite, and Decentraland. Some of their notable clients include Amazon Music, Unilever's Sunsilk, and most recently, the immensely popular K-pop megastar girl group TWICE. By offering their expertise and services, Karta facilitates immersive and engaging experiences for these brands and artists within the metaverse.
The funding received from this round will be instrumental in Karta's continued growth and success. With the financial resources now available, the studio can further develop and refine their offerings.
