Nscale, a prominent technology company based in London, UK, has successfully secured a remarkable $155 million in Series A funding to accelerate its ambitions in the AI hyperscaler space. This significant funding round was spearheaded by Sandton Capital Partners, with other notable contributors including Kestrel, Bluesky Asset Management, and Florence Capital. With this influx of capital, Nscale plans to expand its operations across Europe and North America, thereby enhancing its capabilities in providing cutting-edge AI-ready infrastructure.
Under the dynamic leadership of CEO Joshua Payne, Nscale is at the forefront of developing sustainable data centers that are tailored to support the growing demands of artificial intelligence.
The company's innovative approach includes the deployment of massive-scale GPU infrastructure, along with the provision of AI cloud services. Their sophisticated AI private cloud platform is engineered to accommodate the full generative AI lifecycle, allowing developers the flexibility to run and train various AI models. Furthermore, Nscale's offerings extend to bare metal and virtualized GPU nodes, Kubernetes-native services, and AI workload scheduling that is enhanced by SLURM, as well as advanced serverless and dedicated inferencing options.
Looking ahead, the company is set to unveil a public cloud service in the first quarter of 2025, aimed at providing developers with specialized access to purpose-built training and inference solutions within a versatile development framework. Since its transition from stealth mode in May 2024, Nscale has seen an overwhelming demand for AI infrastructure, which has catalyzed the rapid expansion of its pipeline of greenfield data centers across Europe and North America—growing from an initial capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) to an impressive 1.3 gigawatts (GW), with plans for 120 MW slated for development in 2025. These facilities are designed to cater to large supercluster deployments for global hyperscalers and large language model (LLM) platforms, utilizing the latest advancements in closed-loop direct liquid cooling to optimize performance and efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. Recently, Nscale also announced a partnership with Open Innovation AI, a GPU orchestration platform in the MENA region, aiming for the deployment of 30,000 GPUs over the next three years, further solidifying its position in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
